i just recently got a small green leather and a dark purple hairy mushroom with yellow hairs....

i have them in a slow/moderate water movement area... is this ok?

are mushrooms considered soft corals?

Flow is ok, in the firsts weeks donÃ"šÃ‚´t move them a lot they have a tough time acclimatating.
No, mushrooms are corallimorpharians.

ok thanks.... they open up really big and show their "hair" during the day... so it must like its place in the tank

oh really??
so i need to actually get a feeding tube and give them solid food..... think mysis or frozen brine would work?

I do not target feed mine at all and they are doing very well. In the tank for over a year.

Here's a pic, hairy mushroom back left (it's over 3" in diameter)

They usually do NOT need target feeding, you aren't dealing with sun coral!

If they are opening up / polyping out, then your current is fine. A bigger concern is the right lighting. 175 / 250w MH is fine, 400w MH is too much. A bank of VHO's or PC's is also plenty fine.

Most leathers prefer medium, alternating current. A constant direct current will keep them closed, while no current will not make them happy (mucus coat / hard time shedding / accumulation of detritus)..

Some people don't feed them at all and they do just fine. I feed them a little marine snow. They seem to like it.
