The hairy mushrooms circled in red (and others) have all disintegrated over the past month. The rock in the upper right corner was added 2 months ago. It had a group of what looked like seven white/green hairy mushrooms. All the other, larger, hairy mushrooms in my tank split from 3 acquired 2 years ago. I still have 4 mushrooms left, but they continue to die off suddenly starting with a fuzzy degeneration at the central mouth.
Yesterday, I noticed a dark red thread that looked like a worm that looked like it was coming out of the mouth of the large mushroom on the left. It disappeared since then. A mushroom next to it disintegrated the day before. Is it a worm? Is the mushroom eating fish poop? Is it a structure of the mushroom itself? Think it could be related to the malady which to be fairly specifically targeting my hairy shrooms? If not, ever heard of such a specific virus or disease?
