Hairy SPS - where did it go

I am wondering where the hairy tentacles go over time. All my levels are in good fashion. I have t5s. Was wondering what causes it to happen or go away. Thanks in advance for the help.

Poor polyp extension can be caused by lots of different things. Pests eating the coral (red bugs, AEFW) fish nipping at the coral, lack of flow or not random flow are just a few that I can think of right now.

What kind of water movement do you have? I've noticed that when i used to have my Vortechs on reef crest anti-sync mode i had less polyp extension. I now put them on Long pulse mode anti-sync and have had the best polyp extension i've ever seen with this tank. I did this after reading the latest article from coral magazine by Jake Adams about flow.

I also read that article and decided to change up my flow as well, that was well written and very up to date, I tried to spark a discussion on that topic a while ago but it went no where
