anybody keep one in their reef? I have been considering getting an australian locale harlequin tusk as the second to last addition to my tank(unless I find a mystery wrasse before I find a aussie tusk then it would be the last fish)
so far my stock list includes:
2" lemonpeel mimic tang
3" lavendr tang
4 adult bagai's
3 small chromis virdis
scotts fairy wrasse
lubbocks fairy wrasse
and of course a pair of clowns
(I mighty also want to add some anthias but I might just wait untill I upgrade to add them)
I dont think any of these fish should cause any problems with the harlequin tusk but its alway nice to hear first hand experience

It really depends on the individual tusk because they can range from shy, gentle fish to fish eating aggressors. Many fish on your stock list are food size to an adult tusk, so I would say there's at least some risk there although most tusks are pretty easy going.

Are all those fish in your 57 gallon? f so you are already overstocked. They are not really a great choice for a reef they will eat your clean up crew and possibly smaller fish.

If you tank is acrylic beware of the scratching from the tusk teeth. And yeah thats alot os fish in a little tank not that I should be talking

Yeah I shouldn't be talking either but a 57 is a small tank and with that stock adding a fish that may end up being aggressive in such a small space that can make them even more aggressive. I would wait until you upgrade.

I have one in mine. He's well behaved. Very docile compared to my red coris wrasse. The only time the tusk is aggressive is when I feed.

Fine for reefs, but too big for a 57 (and rimless, Wrasse = jumper). They will likely eat any crustacean, but other than that, the two I've kept were excellent tankmates.

Lost mine to a Sohal two months ago...Gets along fine with other fish and very shy, eats just about anything I put in the water including nori....Never touch any of my corals or clams, will turn over snails but never seen it eat 'em. Shrimps on the other hand are food, I added a few shrimp and before they could get to the rocks the tusk and the mystery wrasse went for it. some expensive meal.
