My lfs has a really nice looking frag about 9 in. in diameter with several branches but four of the branches on one side are bleached. The question is should I buy? The guy at the store said it came that way that it would not hurt the overall colony. I have two questions. First should I buy? and second if I did buy should i cut off the bleached branches or just leave them be? I have 3 400 pfo mh and plenty of flow.

I would never buy a bleaching or rtning frag... it is an unhealthy frag, and usually the change from there tank to yours will kill it.... I would only buy frags with no bleaching, no RTN, and PE is good. I think it would be a risky investment.....

What you're betting on is that your water quality and tank environment are much better. Sometimes it's true.

It can be interesting. Just look it over very carefully and be sure there's no pest involved and that you're not importing a problem.

I got a little scrap of a browned out aculeus that was rumored to have been azure blue once. In my tank, it's still mostly brown, but is picking up its blue again, has fattened all its polyp stalks, and is growing hand over fist, trebling its branch girth inside two months, once it started growing. I won that one. I think any newly-moved sps coral is going to stall for a number of weeks and just not change until it acclimates.

thanks for the info guys I know my water qaulity and lighting is much better and he didnt offer me that big of a discount. I think I will pass.
