Halide light raiser

Looking for a DIY light raiser/lowerer for a rimless tank. Reflectors are lumenarc stealths. Must be cheaper than 50$'s unless really cool, any ideas?

i used those sun light supply ones they worked great on my 24" 4bulb t5 fixture over my 15gl. 2 should be more then enough to hold that fixture.. oh and btw i had them on the tank for about 3 years i think and it never failed. the only thing is that you will have to either make a stand or put these on the ceiling

I tried the sunlight supply hanging kit on a reef optix III pendant and they did not work... The pendant did not weight enough to stop them from retracting.

I saw those although they look to me a bit too iffy on design, more like a yo yo or the cheap belt clips that retract ID cards....

you can adjust there sensitivty. if not then you could add some weight to the fixture. but i loved those sunlight supply ones.... wish i had them on my new tank... sigh

keeping something simple is the best design. they worked great for me for a long time with a lot of up and downs. if you are truely concerned that they will fail on you. tie a sting no longer then you want the fixture to be and if the sunlight supplies thingies (tech term) fail you will have a back up to catch the light.

you may need 4 to 6 of them, might look a little goofy at that point. also, i believe the yo-yos use string, not metal stranded cable. i would use some small steel cable and use pulleys raise and lower a lighting set-up that heavy. plus, i think you would have a hard time getting all those separate units to level out.
just my 2 cents.
