Been out the "game" for a while, and am starting up a 75 or 90 sps tank.

Do you guys think that 2-250's is enough with 2 VHOs to get the right colors and growth everybody wants to see.

cool cool, i was thinking it should be enough.

400'smight mess with the heat i was thinking.?

whats the difference between electronic and magnetic??

thank you guys

400's have a lot more heat compared to 250's. Icepcap has some nice 250W electronic ballasts, and I believe almost all of the 'issue's' are sorted out. Make sure you buy new, not used, and I think you'd be safe going w/ electronics.

I have 3 - 250w 10K with eletronic ballasts and 260 watts of PC Actinics on a 125g, thinking about changing to 14K on the 250, any recommendations?

I thought that kelvin was what made corals grow faster.

I believe so also. However, If you have a 10K 250W bulb and a 10K 400W bulb, I would think the corals would grow faster under the 400W as it would have a higher PAR.

6500k faster growth 20k bulbs better color slower growth.

That is a very gross over-simplification of a seriously complicated biological process.
Don't mean that as a flame or anything. :) , but can of worms, meet your opener. :D

but is there any truth to it?

Sorta kinda, not really... Making the issue more complicated isn't the problem, the issue is, what the issue is. We are not the one's complicating it. Either you understand the biological process that take place, and how things like wattage, kelvin rating, and other factor's affect it, or you don't. Stating "X" does 'Y', at best, muddy's the water. But if one has no intention of learning what's really going on, and they are content being ignorant and not understanding why things happen the way they do in their tank, then yes, that is sufficient.
