I have been growing Halodule Beaudettei (Shoal Grass) for about two and a half months now.

4" Sandbed
77 deg. F
1.026 SG
pH 8.6
Alk 4.5
Ca 420
Phosphate 0.10 ppm (Hanna checker)
Nitrate ~2.5ppm... maybe (API)

Youngest grass growth is bright green. Older grass is dark green but spotty with age. I pull 1-3 dead leaves out daily but seem to not have any thinning overall... so that seems OK.
What should I be looking for at this point?

Nice tank!At two and a half months it should be over any transplanting shock.Has it started sending up new shoots yet?

Pulling old leaves out is normal. As older leaves accumulate epiphites and drop off, new ones emerge to replace them. I pull anywhere from 20-30 leaves per day out of My tank.Which is normal for My tank because there is about 200-400 turtle grass plants in there.

As for the black spots...I'm just guessing that it could be a fungus. There was a fungus which had infected grass along the Eastern sea board a few decades ago and the result was almost a complete wipe out.It was called black spot disease. How you would go about making a determination if it is black spot disease, I don't have a clue.:D
