Do you like Phil Collins?
What is th problem with using a halogen lamp ??? Im going to set up another small nano in my dorm room its a 3.5 bow. And i have a desk lamp that is very very bright. It a very small 50watt halogen it lookes to be between 7-10k> Why couldnt I use it????? for lighting http://www.target.com/gp/detail.htm...asin=B00065ZK5Y
there is the link to the lamp . I also noticed that on the glass under the bulb it says UV filter DO NOT REMOVE.

They are usually 4000-5000 Kelvins. Not really what you want for your tank. Plus halogens do not give off as much light as halides.

Thats what i thought was strange about this one it doesn't look yellow at all it more of a crisp white

The color temp is fine, halogens are just about 10% as efficient as halides. You're just getting nowhere near the light you'd get from a small halide bulb.

Yea but its a price issue right now im in school and i think all im going to have is fish and live rock it should be fine for live rock right

fish in a 3.5g tank? that seems a little to small to have any fish... well on second thought maybe a small goby or something. I would have to say for a FOWLR tank this lamp would work fine.
