Halogen lighting

I'm just curious, could I use halogen lights for my tank (5x2)?

They'll be too yellow for your preference. HP sodium is the same way.

No they are not as efficient as MH. To get as much output as a 175 watt metal halide, you are going to need more that 2 300 watt floods. Halogen puts out alot of heat. You would battle temperature problems. Also I believe the spetrum to be some where around 3K. This would be good to grow some unwanted algae but, I don't think corals would care for it.
