I have heard these bulbs look very close to the radium bulbs, i run icecap electronic ballasts and was wondering if the hamilton bulbs need to be ran on m80's like the radiums or will they be fine on the icecap's and still have the radium bulb look.

TIA

I just got some hamilton 20k bulbs. so far there working great. Nice blue tint to them. i am running them on an m80 ballast tho. I'm not sure if you can run them on an icecap. I would contact hamilton to make sure you can. They redesigned the bulbs recently, and so far there looking great in my tank. I ran pheonix bulbs for years and figured I try these.

I've thought about these too. I've tried the 14k and found them a slightly more pleasing light blue than the phoenix. On the web site, they say the 20ks-
"Must be used with a 250W Magnetic ballast ANSI code M58 or 250 watt electronic ballast".
So your ok either way, but the look maybe whiter or bluer depending on which you use. It may be tough to compare without an actual side by side comparison. It'll be interesting to see what you think.

I am running the 14k's right now and i do admit i like the look but i also liked the look of radium bulbs when i saw them on other's tanks.

I do have a pfo m58 ballast also so i could switch the ballasts around to see if there is any difference.

Thanks all, good ifo
