Hamilton Technology Belize Sun

I’m looking for opinions before I spent the big $$$. I want to buy a Hamilton Technology “Belize Sun” lighting system. I like the 4 footer with the two 250 watt Double Ended HQI Hamilton Metal Halide, 2-T5 420nm 39 watt actinic blue bulbs and 2-Blue moonlight one watt LED lights for nocturnal viewing. I currently run PC’s (210 watt) on my 125 show FOWLR. I like the design for the cost and I plan to suspend it above my tank so appearance counts.

Im looking to upgrade to keep Corals and a Clam or two.

Anyone have any experiences good or bad?….

I got the bug after seeing Keith Berkelhamer's (ReefBum)
TOTM. Sweet!

Keith's TOTM

Thanks in advance

I have not used that model but I do have an older Hamilton deluxe MH + PC fixture that I have been happy with for years. The reflectors on this new one look sweet.

[welcome]

It looks pretty nice.

I have an older Hamilton (( 2*250 + 2*96 PC )) fixture, has been with me since 2001. It is still working great, and looks great too.

I went by Hamilton Technology and spoke with Ethan. The lights look sweet in person. They had one running above a 30 or so gal setup. Noise was minimal at worst. It is my intentions to pull the trigger and purchase one soon. Anyone want to give any advise on how to make the transition a success for my tank. Will the drastic change be an issue I need to address?

At this moment besides fish I have a medium sized Torch Coral, a few zoa, and some star polyps.....

I would shade the tank with some window screening. Would use 3 layers, and then remove a layer each week.

Just place some egg create over the tank, and then put the screening onto of the egg create (( get the fiberglass screening ))

Will look something like this, (( that was an old light that was too big for the tank, was waiting for the new one to show up :) ))

give us a review when you get this fixture p7269 i too would like to grab this also, wondering how big the mh reflectors are and whether the t5s have nice individual reflectors!! Looking forward to it mate

I've been using the belize sun 2x250 hqi and 2 t'5 for over a year now. very nice fixture, currently on my 150 tall 48x24x31. the fans are dead quiet, it's tall enought so working in the tank is easy without removing it. I'm in the process of upgrading, the 31 inch height is just to tall for me. just purchased a AGA 180. This tank is 72" long, the hamilton fixture is 48". so I'll be selling the hamilton and getting either leds or the constellation. But I've been very satisfied with the hamilton.
