hammer almost died overnight

need some help with a hammer coral.
not sure what is going on with it.
yesterday it was perfectly fine and healthy.
woke up this morning and its nearly dead.

tank params:
kh 9
ca 480
mg 1420
nit 10
phos <.25

params seem fine to me so not sure why this coral has declined so rapidly.

the only thing that changed last night was the introduction of a couple frags i got from my reef club and i also moved the direction of the return pumps a little bit. (the hammer i s not being blasted by a return pump).

any help/advice would be appreciated.

it is a little hammer frag, so no laughing.
i did a lugols dip, and it looks a little better now,
but i am still concerned for the coral.

disreguard the bubble :@

Did you QT the frags or dip them? Might have gotten a pest in on them, could be irritating it. Are any of the new frags very close to the hammer? The pictures dont look like it is too bad, as long as it doesnt get worse, I would say it should make it.

start to do some water changes is all i can suggest.. if the frag starts to brown jelly up i suggest you pull it out . one thing to note is that the coral's mouth is open and visible.. maybe he is just taking a dump?

As funny as this is, it's true.

How old was the frag when you got it OP? If it was a fresh cut one he could still be healing, not a big deal, just monitor him carefully. My frogspawn & torch (same family) seem to recede sometimes just for the heck of it.

not sure how old it was, but it wasnt freshly cut.

i moved the frag over to my sps/lps tank for now.
frag seems to be doing alot better today.
the tissue is still receeded around the base, but it is fully open.

starting to think it was a rbta that did this.
been watching one of them yesterday and today.
its awfully close to where the frag was.

Well that's good news :D Could very well be the RBTA stinging it.

yeah RBTAs.. they are always up to something. my old one which i gave away was like a heat seeking missile.. he always found his way on top of some expensive colonies.. and those tentacles… damn those things are pretty but they are armed to the teeth.. i mean I'm fine with something being all pretty but dangerous but come one something that is pretty ,dangerous and IT CAN MOVE ON ITS OWN!!!!??? lol
