Hammer bubble

My hammer has this bubble where the mouth should be. Looks just like its blowing a bubble w pink bubble gum. Been doing this for at least a month. It has 3 heads actually all 3 have it in varying size bubbles. This has to do with reproduction. But how? I've had it for say 4 months. Doing great. It first covered all the hard branch w flesh then took off. Most times it never retracts so I can see the heads.

I had a huge one between a splitting grape head. Lasted for months. It eventually went away by growing itself out.

they bubble when the head divides. Sign that it's growing and "splitting".
