Hammer Coral Placement

Hi All,
Picked me up a hammer coral today and set him in the sand bed, as this is where the LFS told me to place it.
Is this correct?

Depends on your lighting. I have 4 T-5's and mine likes it about midway. Mine didn't really open very much when I placed it in the sand, and the same with being and the top, so I just moved him around a few times till it looked like it was happy. HTH

Probably lower bottom, IMO. It is okay to have him in the sand, just don't put his tissue in the sand or let it get damaged. I would start at the bottom and see how it likes it. Do you have any pics of the hammer or tank?

I posted a picture in my gallery as I could not find a url at the bottom of my picture in my photo gallery?
Do you think the corals look ok?

It needs to open up more. It is probably adjusting to the tank right now. Here is a picture of mine.

Hey I did it. The picture posted!
Man mine looks sad compared to yours, do you think it is the halides that it's ajusting too?

Good job!! It probably is adjust to the water and light at the same time. Mine did that at first, but I think by day 3 it was out. Again I had to move it around the tank a few times over a course of about 2 weeks before I found it's happy place. Mine is atleast nine inches across when it's fully opened. When I first got it, it fell in the sand and suffered some die off (you can see some of the dead skeleton in the pic), but thank goodness it made it. Be careful not to let it fall face down in the sand as this is what happened to mine. Do you know what lighting it was under originally, and for how long they had it. Yours looks really good and it will be a fabulous coral when it finds it's happy place, your lucky. I love wall hammers as mine is about 5 1/2 years old. Good luck I hope it does well for you.
