CAN IT BE PLACE ON THE LIVE ROCK INSTEAD OF THE SAND AND WILL IT BE ALRIGHT IF I DO SO

Of course. These corals are not found on the sand, they are found on the rock. Can you describe your tank? These corals prefer to be placed where they will get moderate current and medium-strong lighting.

please don't shout! I've seen hammers placed in/on the sand, but I agree they'll do well in the rockwork given low/med flow and medium light.

Hammer corals do great in and on the rockwork as well as the sand. Mine I think prefer to be placed in the rockwork about halfway up with plenty of light. flow is important too. They like some flow(about medium) but not too much or they will not open. Hope this helps.

You can't hardly go wrong with hammers. They take a little while to settle in, then they grow nicely. I have mine glued to rock about 14" below my halides and just off side of a return. Moderate flow, moderate light, great coral.

When dealing with whole colonies, you can superglue them to the live rock or stick them in holes.

When dealing with frags, if the rock they're on won't fit or isn't stable, you can break them off the rock and re-glue them directly to a nook in your live rock. The glue does not hold well on flat surfaces underwater: you need to set it in a hole. You put a big wad on, count to thirty or so, then stick it into the place it should go and don't move or twitch for another couple of minutes until it 'takes.'
