Hammer ????

My hammer is dropping the tips off the tentacles. Does this mean it is dying?

If its a new hammer I think it is normal for it to drop off for a few days I think.

I doubt the tips will sting anything.

You're referring to the tenacles, right? It's probably just stressed from acclimation. Is it in too much flow or light? If so, maybe try moving it to see if it is happier somewhere else if it doesn't stop. If you are worried about them stinging other corals, just blow them off if they land on them. Like BMF said, it probably won't sting anything, at least to the point of doing any harm.

Ok, looks like i really need to change around the flow.

From my experience with the hammer/touch/frogspawn family, when there is too much flow aimed at it, it causes the tentacles to break off and flow around in the tank. I know for sure the ones off my torch stung some of my corals.
