My Urchin wasn't getting enough food so when he gets close enough to the surface, I slide a 2x3" piece of nori under his spines. He reacts immediately and slowly crawls over it and consumes it all. I have been doing this for around 6 months now and he looks much happier - no more loss of spines. The other day I came to the tank and he was on the far wall around 1/2 way up. I turned my back for literally 1 minute to do something and when I looked back, he was right where I have the room to feed him. I have no idea how he moved that fast I wish I had seen it! But the question is do they have eyes? I don't know how he knew I was even in the room other than I turned on the light. And I have never seen him come to the surface to get fed. I am not sure how intelligent they are.
