Hanging MH Lighting

I got a Giesemann 230 Eco/Plus system. In the instructions it indicated to have the light fixture a min of 30 cm from the water surface. Is this just a warning they have to include. At about 11 inches off the water surface there are no problems with the temp of the tank.

30cm is 12 inches, but im sure that is just on the safe side, as long as you have glass tops you can prob go down to 8. how many watts are they?

2 x 250 watt with 2 x 54 watt T5

nice, just make sure you have some good circulation in your hood and you should be fine. and if things do start getting hot, raise them up some

We are getting ready to hang a sunlight T5 fixture above our 90 gallon tank. This is an 8 bulb set up with two switches - so you can have 4 bulbs on at a time.

How high off the water should I hang them? (The legs they sell sit the system 6 inches off the top? This seems awful close)

Should I have onlly 4 bulbs on at a time? Should I ever be running 8 bulbs?

Any help would be appreciated.

6 in is o.k, if u have some splatter issues, take it higher or get the splash guard for it.
