Hanging PAR38 - Light Cord MAX Weight

Hello,

I bought a PAR38 bulb to hang above my refugium and I am not sure how to hang it. Ideally, I'd like to just buy a light cord and thread it through an eye bolt or pulley and tie it off on a cleat or something like you would with rope. BUT, this sounds dangerous with an electrical cable. I'm not sure if the cord can support the 14oz Bulb safely, or if wrapping the cord around the cleat will damage the wires inside.

Does anyone have a cheap and safe war to hang such a bulb above a sump?

Thanks

Regular lamp cord will hold the weight of a Par38 bulb without any trouble at all. If you are wiring on your own socket, just make sure the connection between the wire and socket is tight.

Great thanks for the help. I was thinking a work light cord might do the trick but I was worried about the weight of the bulb. I'll pick one up and give it a shot.

Thanks again.
