Hangover

So today I set up my tank it's a rimless 48"L x 48"W x 8"H
The problem is it hangs over my stand anywhere from 1" to 1/2" all around it

Like mentioned above if the math is off, especially in somthing that carries the weight, you should probably reconfigure.

I'd get a new stand. I'm sure it will hold water without cracking for a bit, but I'd be worried of supporting the weight on the bottom pane of glass (if I'm picturing this right)

How and what is your stand constructed? Can you just add / scab on another side and rear face to widen the unit to the correct size or a similar modification, if so do so, if not then you should consider a new stand.

Simply add a 48"x48" piece of 3/4" plywood to make a new top.. right over the existing top is just fine..
run some trim around the edges to cover them up..

problem solved..

You are called mcgyver for a reason. I thought of the same solution as well :D

oh my.... and its rimless too..
Make sure you use foam under it as recommended by the tank manufacture..

Wow. That looks like a disaster. Stands need to be plumb, level, and strong. That stand, or at least the top, needs overhauled.

Yep. Do a new top as stated. There's no chance I'd be okay with trusting it in that configuration. When setting mine up I realized I was about 1/4" off the foam and top board on one side. I drained it and pushed it over to be completely supported. Wasn't worth the worry to me.

Dude....I didn't see the picture before. if that's your stand...find another one. the overhang is fixable but that gap is a whole other world of problems, especially with a rimless tank.
