Happy New Year!!!!!

Happy New Year from your fellow reefers at the Los Angeles Reef Society!
Welcome to another exciting year for the LARS club. As we start a new year we will strive to be the best club that we can possibly be. Our New Years resolution is to Improve the Raffles and club events. Start the new year right and get your reef in shape. See you at the next meeting!

This month is our membership drive so we are looking to start the new year right. All paid members get to participate in our members raffle for free at every meeting. Members can sell coral at every meeting and sell coral in our frag tank at the 3 shows we participate in. (Marine Aquarium Expo, LARS Farmers Market, and Reef-a-palooza)

We will be raffling of a brand new MP10 QD. Everyone can participate in this raffle and do not need to be a member. A LARS frag cutting kit, salt, and much more will be raffled off.

Our presentation this month will be about plumbing. Showcasing how to plumb a tank, how to make it silent, and what materials to use. We will be going over different types of set ups to determine which is best for you.

This months meeting will be at Ocean Marine sales in Covina, ca. We have a special room in the store dedicated to the club for meetings. It will be warm and food will be sold for those who choose to eat. Plenty of tables & chairs for people to sit so come on out and enjoy a great presentation.

As our club grows our members have grown. I am proud to say our turnouts have been 50+ reefers. Please show up on time as our presentation will start promptly at 6pm. Local clubs are a great place to network. We all have problems with our tanks and talking to other reefers might give you some ideas to make your tank better. Everyone is welcome, bring whomever you would like to accompany you. No pressure to join or participate. Don't forget to sign up for the par Meter!

Hi Steve. Is LARS right for me?

Hi Steve. Is LARS right for me?

Dear Steve,

Happy New Year to you! can you let me know if LARS is the best and closest club for me to join?

I live in West Hollywood and I've been looking around the SOCAL club websites, MASLAC, San Fernando, but your group seems to have the most up to date information online.

I've had a tank for a few years and have primarily learned by mistakes and by trolling the forums on my own. But, my tank is stalled and I think I need some community to get from just keeping things alive to making them thrive, which I want to get down solid before I move to a bigger tank.

Thanks.

brian

Join them all!

If you have the time, visit each of the club meetings to see which one(s) you enjoy the most. Most, if not all, clubs do not require you to be a paying member to attend meetings. MASLAC will be holding its annual Holiday "After" Party soon so be on the lookout for more details. Regardless of what club you end up joining, most of the people that frequent this SoCal forum are always ready to help.
