Hard plumped anti siphon lines?

Has anyone thought of hard plumbing anti siphon lines on there return? I'm thinking of using 1 inch return lines ( 3 or 4 on a 180g) and adding two 1/2 inch lines off the return ( all plumbed to a central return manifold ) that would act as mine returns and only extend a tiny amount below the water line. This way they would be silent but in the event of a power failure they would only back siphon a small amount of water. This would allow you to run return lines to lower in the tank to add a variance of flow.

I imagine the returns would run down the back through the sand bed and come up near the front of the tank facing the back wall. Normally this would cause your entire tank to drain in the event of a power failure but with hard plumbed seperate anti siphon lines it should be possible. ..

Any thoughts on this?

I have anti-siphon lines plumbed into my system. I just added a Tee fitting and ran a short piece of pipe that is above the water level.

I pike the idea of the line as I think it adds an extra layer of security. ...and if done right you wouldn't even notice it.
