The new return pump by Tunze is supposed to produce about 3000 gal/hr. It is not supposed to be a high pressure pump but rather a high volume. I have 2000 gal tank and 3000 gal system. I have always been happy with tunze so I figured why not try this new pump. I was going to use it to replace one of my MAG 24 return pumps. My sump room is 50 feet from the tank and so I was not sure this pump would work.

Well to my surprise it works way better than I thought. For the same setup it pushes more than twice what my mag 24s did. I was getting a combined 1600 gal/hr from the two mag 24s. I am getting close to 2000 gal/hr from the tunze. What is strange is that the two mags use more than 500Ws and the Tunze uses 125Ws. Something seems off in the conservation of energy equation.

Anyway, for anyone looking for a return pump I can say this unit willl knock your socks off.

How much head pressure? I run a mag 18 as my return from the basement but it just doesn't seem like it's enough flow since I tee off for my refugium and I have over 12 feet of head.

I would be interested in that answer as well, it is a high rpm pump, according to the tunze Rep. I think he said 3600 rpm. I think it would do decent at some head pressure, the online manual said you can link two together to increase head pressure. At that point the cost vs benefit goes out the window. 800 dollars for two.

Like a ampmaster or a reeflopumps are at like 1750 rpm. Which makes them not good for pressure pumps...but great for flow and being quite.
