Harlequin no-tuskfish

My 6" harlequin tusk lost one of his two big, upper fangs. The left side of his mouth looks like he needs dentures - it's kind of sad. Anyone know if their from tusks grow back?

I think he may have lost it biting on the plastic feeding tongs. He is sort of a slow feeder and doesn't compete well with my triggers, angels and tangs when I feed, so I distract them and feed him chunks of krill with some plastic feeding tongs. But much of the time when he lunges for the food in the tongs he misses - always to the right. It's like he has a depth perception problem or something - it's really weird. And it's kind of a pain feeding him because before he can take a second stab at it the other fish are there and all over his food.

If anyone has had similar experiences or suggestions on a better way to feed him, I'm all ears.

The tusks do grow back, no worries. Mine would lose them from time to time by bashing his head against rocks to break up a chunk of food in his mouth.

About the eye thing, I've seen it. My tusk developed that after being stung by a lion and then suffering from a resultant bacterial infection. His eyes never recovered but looked completely normal. Same depth perception issue. What worked best for me was putting in pellet foods, and the powerheads would make them gather in an area. The tusk would know where to go eventually and could suck them up off the bottom quickly. I'd say a fish with a vision issue like that probably needs a much more peaceful tank. It isn't even about target feeding, it is all the missing a fish like that will do... Takes a while to feed, and aggressively feeding tank mates can make that very difficult.
