That's a really different colored harlequin shrimp. I'm sure the care would be the same as the standard ones though.
Decent water quality
no pH or salinity fluctuations
frequent water changes to keep iodine levels good
only eats the tube feet of certain echinoderms (ie seastars like the chocolate chip)
Does well in pairs
Not aggressive towards other delicate shrimp
Sorry, not trying to rub it in your face, I am just so excited, as I have never seen this color morph before.
She will arrive on tuesday, along with one of the pairs that I ordered fromthe Divers Den.
I will take many pictures.

CONGRATS! So freakin jealous! Do you happen to remember the name it gave after the common name? Also can't wait to see how it does for you! Keep us posted!
Michael, was it labeled as H. picta on l.a.? Let's hope they get several more, as it appears there may be more people looking for the next one. I hope they get pairs, someone needs to raise the larvae, so we can have a supply of captive bred H. picta.
Yes it was labeled as Hymenocera picta. I watch the D.D. like a hawk. I am keeping my eye out for any more of these that arrive. I will sweep them up. I have wanted to try captive breeding of these guys, but my last pair was dinner for my wrasse. I was upset too, as they were starting to breed regularly. I am assuming that the one I ordered last night was a Female, as it was labeled Xtra-Large. But I will know for sure Tuesday. All I need now is a male. (Hopefully). As I already stated these will go into a species tank, so they will have no predatory stress.
