has a duck laid an egg in me tank?

what on earth is this????

its right at the back of my tank, and looks like a hard boiled egg without the shell very very smooth and round.... any idea???

This is as close to what it looks like to my eyes as my camera would take!

its about 2inch by 1.5 inch. or so.

The egg may have been laid by the very secretive "water chicken". They are very secretive, so you may not know it's in your tank. haha. Actually it looks like a "chicken liver" sponge very smooth and rounded.
