Has any one seen Mag Flake locally?

Lots of confusion here.

For Calcium you want to use Dowflake, Peladow or Prestone Driveway Heat

For Mg you want to use Mag Flake manufactured by Dead Sea Works. It's the second item shown on this harvey salt page:

http://www.harveysalt.com/prod01.htm

I'm not sure about the Mag Pellet stuff at the top of the page. It seems to be manufactured by the same company. But the amount of pellets to be used would different than the amount of flake. And I dont think the Randy had instructions for how much pellet to use in the case of Mg.

For Mg, best to use a combination of the Mg Flake and epsom salts.

Johns, I am curious as to why you would use Mag flake and epsom salts for Mg? I think I started the confusion by saying that I had the Ca portion already(Dow flake) I think that I should not have mentioned anything about Ca. I am JUST looking for Mg.

Adding epsom salts only could eventaully lead to a higher conc of sulfate in your water. I havent heard any first-hand accounts of problems associated with this, but why do it when you dont have to. Adding Mag Flake only could eventually lead to higher conc of chloride in your water.

If you just make up a solutions the way Randy suggests (5 parts Mag Flake and 3 parts Epsom), you have a somewhat more 'balanced' solution. See here:
