Oh Well
Hey All,
I just wanted to know if anyone has bought anything from these guys??
I was thinking of a metal halide setup from them??

Thanks for the help,
DC

You get what you pay for but they are local to socal. I'll get the name of their store and city for you in a bit. And dont count on them if your lights burn out in a week.

I bought some of the 150 watt metal hallides. I would not reccomend the 175s as aquatraders is the only maker of the DE 175s i am happy with mine, but I can change bulbs to higher quality manufacturers.

Is your light a metal halide? Do you think the quality was OK or better or not? How long have you had it? Do you really like it? All the help is great , I appreciate it. I was going to buy a complete MH setup from them with a single 150w plus (2) 65watt PC blue for my new 40RR tank.

Reefmeister turned me on to http://www.aquatraders.com/
He has some of their cheapy pc fixtures for his nano tanks.

I recently bought a couple pc fixtures for the sole purpose of frag display at swaps.

The fixtures seem to be of ok quality given the very low price.

I got their skimmer ( CPR like) for $50 brand new with pump from my LFS . It is working like crazy in my 60 gal . 1 cup in 4 days. Haven't bought from their web . don't know.

I have had the lights on there for about six months, and I am very happy, They came with 20K metal halides, and actinics, so i switched the actinics out for 7200k bulbs The ballast run cool, and they fire nicely, I am no lighting expert, but I put 2x 20" 150watt halides for 380$ and realy like them. I would recommend them.

I have Aqua Traders lights over my SH tank. They work FINE. And were cheap. They even replaced a ballast no questions asked when one failed

I used their 48" PC fixtures over my 90g when I started and had 1 ballast go out but it was replaced immediately by them....I have since sold one fixture and the other is on my cichlid tank as the 90g now has a Tek T5 fixture

I also have the CPR clone and it seems to work fine on my 30g hex

i bought a 48" 260w pc fixture from them a year ago, and it's been fine/great. the only annoying thing was that the actinic/daylight/nightlight bulbs had seperate switches, but were all on the same power cord making a timer impossible without rewiring.

however there are a couple sites that have instruction on wiring seperate power cords to each of the 3 switches.

the odyssea fixture that i had was very easy to connect up - there was a small 2-pin connecter and the moonlights just snapped into place. very easy....

temp frag display with aquatraders light

I made up a couple temporary frag display containers

the light is a dual actinic/daylight 24 w power compact

and the legs fit very well on the 15qt rubbermaid 'latch topper' containers

the light swivels out of the way for frag access.

I also printed out a bunch of the pictures from the same web album and I have them arranged in plastic sleeves in a 3-ring binder so people can see what the frags look like under 10k lighting as well as so they can see the mother colonies.

Also, after the swap, I plan to use one of the lights to make a converted terrarium into a nano tank

I recently purhcased their 260 PC 48" set up, has three seperate cords and switches. Works pretty good. The only complaint is that if your arm is in the aquarium and you accidentally touch the reflector....ZAPPP!!! It bit me a few times before I took care of the grounding issue. Other than that, the price was far cheaper than anywhere else I looked. And they shipped it quickly.
