hi i have a 65gal reef tank and my next fish id like is either a bangii cardinal, or a blue/green chromis, or a black axil chromis and i dont really want the cardinal anymore cause i heard they eat small shrimp so then i was thinking of one of the two chromis...
so my question is can i only buy one of either of those spices and if anyone has former experience with them let me know
THANKS

I've had Bangii and blue/green's. I've only kept single Bangii at a time and never had an issue with shrimp, but the shrimp they've been with were CBS and larger skunk cleaner shrimp. So, maybe smaller shrimp like sexy or small peppermint are what's at real risk. If you do decide on one of them, try to get a tank bred, as they adapt must better than wild.

The blue/green's are very easy fish. However, a lot of the time when a group is added, they tend to dwindle down to a single one. From what I've read there is a pecking order and they kill off the lower ones. I again had a single one and when I would add another, it would die shortly after. It was fine with all other fish.

ok good and yes if i did get a bangii cardinal i would get tank bread haha and also thats good to hear that someone has had one chromis and still have him be fine
THANKS

My Bangii never bothered my shrimp (cleaner and 2 small peppermint). I can see how sexy anemone shrimp might be more of a concern. He loves eating frozen mysis and live brine shrimp though:)

What type of shrimp are you asking about? I think cleaner shrimp, CBS or larger peppermints would probably be fine. My cardinal doesn't actively search the rock for food. He tends to eat food that's floating. If it's a smaller shrimp and it's running around the rock surface or swimming, that's probably when it might be at risk.

ya i was talking about cleaner, fire, peppemint, and pistol shrimp i dont plan to keep all those but those are my favorite so im just trying to decide wht to get haha
