has anyone gotten their 'addicted to other foods' blenny to eat algae again?

well my bicolor blenny is addicted to pellets and will no longer touch the algae growing in the tank at all. there is mature film algae for him to eat but he won't touch it. anyone ever gotten a blenny back on algae? he used to eat algae when i first got him about 2 months ago.

he's the only fish in the tank.

I have a bicolor too and I have never seen it eat algae. Takes flake and frozen and nori if he can get past the yellow tang. I used to own a lawn mower blenny and he ate everything too but he also ate algae. I have never seen my bicolor pick at the rocks ever.

HA! my starry got one taste of meaty foods & there was no turning back. He wound up blowing up like a balloon & passed soon afterwards. Good luck w/ your guy

Its odd you would post this after your post on blennies not being algae eaters, but rather omnivorous. The only way to get him to eat more algae, is to feed him less otherwise. Most of my bi colors have eaten film algae from time to time, but not on a constant basis.

yesterday i tried to go the entire day without feeding my blenny. it was hard because everytime i passed the tank he would come out and beg for food. i finally gave in at night and fed him about half what i usually feed him. this morning i witnessed him eating algae. he ate the entire upper corner of the tank clean of algae. he is also perching on that side of the tank. something he has never done before.
