Has anyone tried a power sweep?
How does it compare to a seio? I like the smaller size of the power sweep.
Thanks

Bought 2 of those once in PetSmart and both died a week apart from each other with 30 days. That's a piece of S#@t merchandise. :mad2: Talked to the petsmart manager and she was kind enough to give me a refund for those two.

I said thanks for the info! i've never been back.

So hydors are a good investment? I was thinking of purchasing 2 of them to go with my maxijet 1200s on my 60 cube

There not bad for LPS/softies tanks. The biggest issue is they are not very efficient. Similar to SCWD's, they drastically reduce the output of the pump. They also have the tendency to get stuck like the powersweeps. Especially, if you're doing some means of calcium supplementation in your reef.

Unfortunately, the Hydors aren't heavy enough to become a paperweight:(

The only issues I have had with our hydors are the darned snails that crawl into them and stop them from rotating. A couple of whacks on the hydor with an algae scraper and htey usually start right back up (and one or more snails fall out the back :)). OVer all I like them though, and use them in our prop tank.

I'm surprised they still sell them if they suck so bad

They still sell Prizm, SeaClone, etc... And we know those suck.

The Power Sweep I had quit sweeping after 3 months. Took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly and it ran for a while then quit again after another month. You can get it to work if you clean it on a regular basis but why bother when there are better options out there.

The Hydor I had broke after 9 months. The teeth on the plastic track inside got worn out and stripped and would no longer rotate. Can't use it for anything else so I took the turbine from the Hydor out and used it to mod a MJ400.

IME both are kinda junky.

I now have 2 modded MJ400s running with one mounted on a DIY "swirler stein" Best random flow pattern ever.
