I pick up some Prawn eggs that claims to be a food that manderins and other live food choice fish will eat, i tried it today but im not sure he ate any, i think i saw him eat a little but thats it... has anyone else tried this stuff
I feed my mandarin Cyclopeeze Granuals and soft sinking pellets made of krill... She cant get enough of it... She still looks around for pods here and there but runs for the food once it drops in the tank....
I'm also interested. My manderin loves his pods but he'll take blood worms as well. I don't really think that blood worms are a very nutritional alternative so I'd be interested to give this a try.
That's interesting Waxxiemannn...how big is the fish? Both my male and female green mandarins took to it right away. They are both about 2.5 inches long.
He's a male and he's about 2.5" as well. Are you using garlic of boyds or somthing to entice them? I find that he'll look at it but by the time they figure out if they want to eat it or not it's blown away in the current.
No additives-- I just thaw it out and rinse it in RO water then blow it in with a turkey baster and they go chasing after it. Sometimes takes them a few chomps to get the bigger ones down but they seem determined to do it.
i have been using prawn eggs for about half a year now and i love it for coral food and im going to be using it for my pipefish when i get them but i havent used it for mandarins my guess is that they would work, my ignitus anthias used to love them
my LFS sells them, he swears by them for his sun coral and for his mandarins and pipefish and seahorses he gets in, i cant remember what the name of it is but im going to be getting some more here soon
I feed mine these.. started with the cyclopeeze then he started going crazy for the soft pellets.. I squeeze the pellets to get it to be more soft and easier to eat once it drops to the bottom.. I also turn off all the pumps to make it easier for him to eat in peace..
