Has anyone used the premix water

No I have not, I have always mixed my own. Using the premixed water will not help you cycle faster. The vast majority of the cycling bacteria is found on and within the rock.

Buy the dehydrated ocean and buy your own ro/di filter. Easier to carry. Otherwise you're paying for ro/di water.

I did buy LFS water for the first year, until I finally broke down and bought an RO/DI setup, and made a water mixing station.

If it is a reputable pet store, and they tell you upfront what they make it with (brand of salt, what parameters the water has) then it is fine. It is just, as everyone else has mentioned, it is almost obscenely expensive, compared to what you can make your own for.

I used it when I first started and it's just expensive. There isn't anything special about it and you still have to cycle the tank. It's not actually the water that "cycles", it's the rock/sand that you need to populate with bacteria.

I use Petco ocean water in a 5g box and love it. I don't use a lot so for me it is quick, easy and relatively cheap if you consider the labor of making RO/DI and SW manually. Also the dkh is low so matches the tank which I try to keep no higher than 8.

From the pet store. Not from their tanks but from instant ocean? Would you still need to cycle?
Yes I use it and yes you would still need to cycle. IT has a lot of advantages like stable ph and maybe salinity, and you don't have to go through all the hassle of mixing salt water. The big downside is the traveling and heavy moving and lifting you would have to do with it. I would recommend using it for smaller tanks because it can get a little difficult and pricy for bigger tanks. Hope that helps :)

I use pet Co ocean water also, love it too :)
