Has my acan been eaten?

Came home today and noticed that my beautiful as of yesterday acan looks like it's been completely ravaged. My only suspects at this time are my peppermint shrimp and my bicolor blenny. Judging from the rotundness of its belly and the smug self satisfied look on its face I assume that it was the blenny.

Does anyone know whether or not this will now be a habit? I really don't want to get rid of the blenny, he's been with me for almost 5 years now and he's never caused any problems that I know of. The acans have only been in for about two weeks though and are my first of that kind.

My guess would be the Peppermint shrimp. FWIW I've had 3 or 4 of these things go rouge and tear up a Leptastrea, Favia, Blastomussa, Mycedium etc.

I had a Bicolor blenny that picked on every coral in the tank. Cool personality but evil fish.

I'm just shocked at how fast it disappeared. I didn't think a couple of peppermints could do that much damage that quick.

Actually yes, I had fed them some krill the night before. They had swallowed it completely though.

Well 5 days later and no further damage, actually looks like it's now growing back which I never thought would be a possibility.

Doesn't matter. I had peppermint shrimp reach into the gut sack of my lps through the polyp mouth and pull out food that the polyp had swallowed.

I know a bunch of people have never had issues with pepp shrimp, but both times I tried them I took them out after a day or two. One time they where going after my euphylia & the other time some acans

Well, two more heads have been eaten. The peps have been banished to the sump. Hopefully the acan recover, hopefully removing the shrimp cures the problem.

I was told by knowledgeable staff from my LFS that peppermint shrimp eat coral and one of the staff had to evict them from his tank because they were eating coral. I was going to purchase some but when I hear this I just got some snails instead. They bulldoze the coral but don't eat them at least.

Peppermint shrimps are evil, they eat corals as well as clams.
