Has my ocellaris turned female yet?

I am upgrading to a 120g and would like two clowns that have been housed in separate tanks to share a RBTA:

Any chance my 2.5" ocellaris is still a male?

I would like to pair him with a large 3-4" black clown that I assume is a female...

depends on how long you have had it. Read the sticky on pairing clowns and the answer is in there. I think it was if it has been by itself for more than 6 months then it has changed to a female, but just read that FAQ and it gives you the answer. I may be off on the months.

Sort of depends. It takes clowns about a year or so of age to reach sexual maturity to begin with. Do you know how old your fish are? (i.e. how long have you had them and were they tiny when you bought them). Once they reach that year or so age, the transformation to female can happen as quick as a month if the fish is alone in the tank. If neither fish is old enough, they will establish gender all by themselves as they reach the right time.

Keep in mind that even if they were tiny when purchased, if they were wild caught size can not be a factor in determining age. In the wild, there will be one dominant female and one dominant male, the rest of the fish will remain tiny sexless juveniles for years until one of the dominant fish die.

Clowns can also change sexes in a matter of a month or so depending on the situation, as previously stated. If it has been in the tank without another clown for over one month, I would consider it a female.
