has the byssal left the building???????

i got a clam the other day n i don't see ne byssal threads, all i see is the shell , maby a hole

the clam was attached in the store n the guy removed it by either gently rocking it back n forth or by poking the threads i couldn't tell. it looked like the clam just gave up.

has the byssal gland left the building??????

it hard to say,if he just pulled it off of whatever it was holding on to it could have just released it threads,or he could have riped the gland out of it,if the clam looks and acts ok then it probably just released the threads,loss of the gland almost always ends in death

My in-laws' crocea released it's threads and won't reattach to anything. Strange things happen...
