hatching and enriching brine shrimp

Ive watched videos on how to hatch brine shrimp, but it was just on how to hatch the brines that still have the shell, do i remove the brine out of the hatchery bottle with a syringe? or since I will be using de capsuled brine do i just leave them in the same bottle and water and wait 12 hours and add the enrichment liquid? Ive been seeing people talking about doing 2 stages of enrichment, how do i do that? and do i put the brines in a new bottle with all new water? If someone could explain what i do after the brines hatch that would be great, basically i dont understand what to do next after they are hatched.


This will be for dwarf seahorses. I have kept them before but had no luck, I had 1 left and it was doing great until i asked my husband to do a water change on the dwarfs tank and he sucked up my last dwarf and it killed her. i wasnt getting dwarfs anytime soon as i just wanted to do more research well unexpectedly and unknowingly he ordered 5 pairs of dwarfs and I will have them tomorrow and he just told me today. I have food for them to eat but i would like to start my own brine shrimp culture. I do not want to loose these dwarfs!

However, there are a few ways to accomplish your task.
You can hatch out the decapped cysts the same as ones that are not decapped.

Now you can hatch enough for more than a day so you don't have to hatch daily, or, you can hatch daily as many do.
I personally hatch for about 10 days but most people don't have the room for that size of container. After hatching I put them in a large container and remove enough each day for one days feeding and enrich them in two 12 hour stages using new water and enrichment for each 12 hour stage.
I remove enough (1/3) for a feeding and add them to the tank. Some do this twice a day but I do it 3 times daily.
For removing bbs from hatching or enrichment, it's best to use a mesh or net suitable for the size. I bought mesh bags from Brine Shrimp Direct but I know some people use plastic coffee filters.
Hatching water should never get into the seahorse tanks.

What should I enrich the baby brine with and where can I buy it online?

Different people use different enrichments, but a lot of what some think are enrichments are merely food, and others lack the amount of DHA necessary, even though they may have EPA in them.
Selco or Selcon emulsions are popular as they can buy that locally most time, but it has limited shelf life and you don't know how long the store has had it.
I prefer the powders and the best one you can get IMO is called
Dan's Feed and it comes with or without Beta Glucan. (BG should not be used all the time so there are two versions) and includes the nutrient profiles best suited for seahorses. You buy it from Dan Underwood of Seahorse Source

ok thanks a lot, i already have the brine eggs just dont have the enrichment yet, so as of the moment am just feeding unenriched brine and shouldn't be to long until i get that dans feed. All the seahorses are doing great I have 10 adults and 27 new baby dwarfs. 15 babies were already in the bag when i received them in the mail and had a pregnant one and he had his babies on sunday. They are all eating good including the babies. I have them in a 10g tank.
