Have a problem with UPS

My order shipped on Friday for a Saturday delivery. I looked at the tracking this morning and to my dismay it was rescheduled to be delivered on Monday. :mad2: The status said that it was rescheduled because the selected service was unavailable. I called the UPS customer service number to find out what was going on. The person I spoke with was helpful and called the shipping center to find out what was going on. They told her that it was on the truck and I should expect the delivery at 1:30 in the afternoon. 1:30 comes and goes, so I give UPS a call back. This time I got someone less helpful. She told me that Saturday delivery was not available in my area. So I asked if I can pick it up when the truck gets back and she tells me it was never on a truck and it is at the shipping center which is closed and that I will have to wait for Monday for my package. I told her there were live fish and it was urgent that I got the package. She couldn't care less. I told her that I wouldn't even be available to sign for the package on Monday (unable to take leave). Still couldn't care less. So what do I do in this situation? I'm so mad right now!

Hello,

Thank you for your post, I apologize for the inconvenience, I truly understand your concern. Unfortunately at this time Marine Depot live is closed and will be open for business again on Monday. I recommend that you email them directly with your situation at customercare@marinedepotlive.com also if you can PM me your name, phone number and your Marine Depot live Order number I can pass that information on to the Marine Depot Live Staff so they may take care of the situation for you first thing on Monday and make other arrangements or credits. Once again I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Well, I just received my order. Unfortunately 2 out of the 5 fish were DOA and 1 that might not make it. I'm acclimating them all anyways. The live and dead in separate buckets. The driver confirmed to me that Saturday delivery is available in my area and that it was downgraded by accident. The driver was upset because she said that this happens all the time and needs to stop. I'm thinking the Saturday driver got lazy, but dunno, could be just an honest mistake. But I've talked to MDL and they have been nothing but helpful and accommodating. I want to stress, even if it's obvious, this is in no way the fault of MDL. I'll keep updating this thread in the meantime.

I'm so happy, one of the fish that I thought was dead for sure has miraculously sprang back into life. He's swimming somewhat erratically, but he might pull through. And the other one I was unsure about is lively swimming around. So all in all, 4 out of 5 made it. I'm impressed, I thought for sure they would all be dead when I got the package. This goes to show how well MDL ships their products/livestock. They gave me credit for the one that was lost. So I'm a happy camper. Thanks! :)

Hi Specrn5
That is good news. It is one reason why we always ask people to aclimate the fish they receive, even if they look hope less. Thank you for doing so. I am glad most of the fish made it. I hope they continue to recover. If they don't please let us know.

The Squirrelfish that I had initially thought was dead before acclimating has made a full recovery and is swimming normally. The others look to be in great condition as well. Not bad considering they were sitting at a shipping center all weekend. I thought for sure they would all be dead. Kudos for the excellent packing, I don't think they would have survived otherwise. I will not let this experience deter me from purchasing from MDL, after all it was not your fault. I probably won't choose Saturday delivery again though. : ) Thanks again!!
