Have Coral Beauty angel. Added Flame angel... Help!!

YOU have been ignored!
Well I figured I'd have a little bit of a fight on my hands but this #$%# Coral Beauty angel won't leave the Flame alone!!! Also my purple tang is getting into the mix occaisionally too. Poor Flame angel.. Its been a few hours. I think the Flame would fare better if he'd hid and run thru the rockwork from the Coral Beauty but he's staying toward the top of the tank and sortof swimming funny. He seems to be healthy...

So my question is what can I do to make the introduction a little bit easier on my Flame? I know being that these two fish are soo closely related sometimes it just doesnt work out too well but eventually that damn Coral Beauty is going to have to accept the fact he's not going to be the only dwarf angel in the tank!!!

So HELP!!!!:(

Remove them both to quarantine together. That may settle the fight: neither will be in his own territory.
Give them time together there, then reintroduce them both at the same time.

Well I wish I had the QT tank!!! Sounds like a good idea.. Any other ideas? I turned off the halides thinking that might enduce the m to settle down a bit... Fed the tank a couple times to preoccupie the Coral Beauty.... That QB is a little son of a you know what I tell you that..

Thanks,
Chris

Try rearranging the rockwork so the CB will have to re-establish his territory. Good call turning the lights off, that should help as well. I found with my 65g whenever I added a new fish there was some flaring, chasing and even nipping for a while but they settled down nicely after 24h or so; I have four angels in the tank ATM, added in this order: flagfin, flame, CB, cherub. There's no agression between the angels at this point, they all seem to basically ignore each other.

whenever i add fish that are the same or alike i turn all the lights off for a while and cover the tank iff needed to make it completely dark then the cb will go to its night spot and leave the other alone. i leave them off as long as needed my corals normally dont mind no light for a day or 2.

Have you got a water change bucket, a five gallon? That, with a strong bubbler, can be a qt tank for 24 hours and might get them to cool down.

I just got a QT tank this evening. I've been wanting one for a while anyways. Got some T5's. Already have an extra Ca Reactor and skimmer so I'm cool there. I'm going to use it as a frag tank as welll. I'm making water now.

I added a flame in with a potters (2 years residency)in a 90 gallon reef. They talked trash with each other for 2 days, then have been fine for 3 months now. I did feed extra for the first week.

Man I'm telling you that Coral Beauty is relentless! For one I think the Flame angel is not feeling up to par for whatever reason. He's been swimming funny since I first put him in. His coloration is gorgeous though. I'm hoping he's a little perkier tomorrow after getting a good nights sleep. I've checked on him a couple times tonight and at first I'll be honest he didn't look good at all. Then the last time I checked he looked a lot better and I'm hoping things will calm down tomorrow and he won't get his butt kicked again. I don't think he can take another day of what he got today. Poor guy. I felt really bad.

Part of the reason I got him is because I felt sorry for him in one of those little 6x6 " little acrylic cubes they put these fish in at the LFS. He did have the best color patterns of any of the other Flame angels though.

A month ago I added a Flame to my tank that had a Coral Beauty. The Flame went through 6 weeks quarantine and was strong and healthy. I also always introduce new fish after lights out. First few days the Coral Beauty chased the Flame a bit but teh Flame always hid quickly amongst the rocks. Now they get on fine.

In your situation, if you really want to save the fish and the aggression is that bad, you'll need to remove the Coral Beauty for a while.

That's too bad, sorry to hear it. If you want to try again, make sure the new angel is fat, eating really well and acts bold in the store. Getting a super healthy specimen to begin with is half the battle IMHO. Then when you get home shut off the lights, rearrange the rockwork and introduce the new fish carefully. Maybe have a divider on hand so you can partition the tank temporarily if there are agression issues; a sheet of plexi would allow them to see one another while the new angel adjusts without having to worry about being harassed. Once he's settled and the CB isn't showing signs of agression, lift out the divider, maybe move a rock or two and watch them closely for a while.
