Have You Ever Seen a Floating Rock?

I hadn't until I went by Eco Reef the other day. They have a white rock in one of the tanks and it's floating!!! I had to test it myself and try to push it down a few times...it just bobbed right back up again. Take a look at the video clip I took (by clicking on the picture below)...

WE used to find them all the time when my grandparents had a cottage on lake ontario when I was growing up! it was fun...we'd throw them in the lake and theyd always be back on shore by morning!

Nope,its a coral skeleton.

yeah some lps skeletons like frogspawn will float like that if they have been dried out. since they are pretty light and will trap some air, they will float like that. it took a few minutes to get all the bubbles out so i could set it in the tank to grow some xenia off of it

Apparantly the store that Robert & Larry took over sold it at least once and it was brought back, then they sold it again recently and the customer called up and said they sold him a rock that floats...they thought the guy was crazy. Well, he brought it back a couple of weeks ago and it's been floating since then. Wonder if it'll ever sink...
