Have you seen a "zero edge" tank yet?

I haven't had a chance to get on RC lately, but had to put something up about this!

Eco Reef in Pompano just got in a sweet zero edge aquarium a short while ago. Robert's got it up and running and fully stocked now. This is some setup! He's putting in all of his nicest sps too...lots of rarities in there.

I saw the tank and it is much nicer in person, It is definitely a piece of conversation by itself, never mind when it i nicely set-up like Robert and Larry has it. It is a must see tank.

Kat i believe that is the biggest tank u can have zero edge.

Yeah, I think Robert said this was the biggest one he could get. It's amazing how much attention it gets...people who normally wouldn't walk into the shop come in just to see this tank!

yea you gotta love those zero edge tanks! Gorgeous! When I was in chicago I saw one at a store. It was about 150 gallons. roughly 6'x4'x18" I think i remember him saying 150ish gallons. Tank was gorgeous but it was allllll softies. Wasn't the most impressive store though. I just remembered it having saltwater from when I was a child so I stopped in.

yes that is the largest, however they do also make custom and tank only setups, you dont have to buy the large acrylic stand, even though it is pretty sick

But has this ever occured to anyone else? If it has water on both sides, doesn't that mean you'll have to razor the glass on both sides? I mean with my calc at 500 it hardly takes anytime before I have to clean the glass.

Gorgeous looking tank tho. But starphire has my vote. ;]

What street is eco reef off of? I'll have to get up there, nice looking sps. I know about the lfs sticky but it won't open for me.

haha yes your right, you do have to clean both sides of the glass,

eco reef is right off of atlantic blvd in pompano beach, its just before the intercoastal waterway on the south side of atlantic (while heading east on atlantic, theres a plaza just before the bridge, its in there)

Does the water spill out of the top? Out of one side or all four? If so does it go to to tray that it sits in?
So does that mean that snails will be walking around outside the tank?
How do you clean the acrylic if the outside is wet too and does that mean that there will be coraline growing inside and out?

Draw backs to those tanks, mounting power heads, cleaning both sides of the glass, fish going over the edge all the time. IMO those tanks are best left for big trade shows.. Something to go ahhhh over then take down.

Yes it does spill out to a tray and return.
As far as snails who needs them! lol
U just clean w lower h20 level. Painful but purdy!

I agree in the respect that you would have to be absolutely fastidious about cleaning the glass/acrylic on a daily basis! Or, of course, pay someone to do so. If you do it every day very thoroughly the coralline shouldn't be able to take hold. Just make sure you leave plenty of room around the inside perimeter for cleaning purposes!

didn't think of that...no it wouldn't drain completely because the return would eventually become above water as its probably halway up the tank...but I'd assume that about half of the tank would get back siphoned through the return. deff would need a check valve that worked!

yep, theres a very nice check valve on it. you are completely right about that part though, without it about 3/4 of that water would be on the floor.

every single tank w/o one or the returns out of the water would spill over.
