Barnacles - they can weaken the overall structure/health of your coral (as shown by the white area). I usually take a pin to them to maximize the well being of the coral. Some people live with them and don't mind them.

AEFW: Acropora Eating Flat Worms

I'd closely inspect every SPS piece that is housed in the same system! Hopefully you catch it before you have an outbreak and it spreads.

QT it and dip it in some Revive. Your gonna have to do this weekly, in-case eggs are laid and hatch.

GL!

No, it looks like barnacles to me as well. Not that I'm an expert, but it doesn't look like AEFW's. Besides the lack of resemblance, one's that large would have left quite a few bite marks.

The coral does look bothered in that area though.

A small dab of superglue will keep the barnicle closed, and it will die. The coral will grow over it eventually, as stated above.

I had one on a hammer before, and it didn't seem to effect the hammer at all. Kind of interesting to watch sometimes.

+1 on barnacles, i like them. Every now and then i see little feathers stick out of them, trying to catch food.

Just a follow up on my post , the answer is barnacles! and I tell you what, I drilled them out and boy were they deep into the coral and the smell damn it was discusting kinda like that stinky teeth plaque.
A follow up pic to boot :)

Hey, you have some large holes in your coral, you might want to double check that it is getting all the vitamins it needs, there could also be stray voltage leaking into your tank. Its like HLLE , only for corals.

Nathan, please tell me you are joking?
