Thanks crazedpuffer

Thanks fish @ chips 29 - That's a picture of a overlook of Hong Kong about 4 years ago. I really like it as it could be at any point in the cities development. Its amazing how fast that place is shooting up even today.

Thanks stevem10

Those are some great shots. I can't believe what I saw in the Frogspawn tentacle.

Your pictures from abroad are very good. However, it does look like airport security nuked your first set. ;)

The area where the clothes hang to dry, is that a laundry washing area, or are those some type of community showers? :eek2: Some parts of the world really are very poor. :(

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks melev, I appreciate you chiming in.

Its amazing how powerful those x-rays are, zapped the color right out of the pictures. :D

Those clothes hanging is from Mumbai. It is a laundry washing area. It is estimated the almost 75% of the cities laundry is washing in this section of town. Since most people don't have laundry machines (basically nobody) everyone from the very poor (with only their best work close) to the super rich get their laundry done this way. It was amazing to watch and I wish I had a better camera and lense for the occasion. Next time I go I want to go through the slums (even though you can't take pictures as people get very offended). Asian's biggest slum is in Mumbai and it is very impressive in a depressing kind of way.

Community showers and bathrooms are outside all the slums and some government housing and can only be used for a charge. They are open air and usually people are exposed. Luckily in India people are almost never naked during their entire lives. During showering they will always have some type of clothing around their nether regions be it in public showers or at home in private, I have been told that even during sex people keep clothes on. Its a fascinating culture and I will be return some point in the next few months to live and work with some people I met there.

Thanks for the interest.

Great pics!!! Personally, I thought the first set looked beautiful without color. Actually, I thought you did that on purpose...shows my photography skills...lol...

lol I did do it on purpose. Just joking about the x-ray, all digital these days.

The travel shots are from a few years of traveling so to make into a series I thought I would use the effect to tie them together. Plus I really like the way the look with a simple sepia filter.

Thanks for your interest!

Its on my list of places to go. I have a free summer ahead of me so I might be able to make it.

I had a friend who also is into photography who lived in St. Petersburg for a little while. I'll see if he's got anything that he's willing to share.

Thanks for your interest.
