Having a hard time cutting "the list"...

John, Thanks for some feedback. Yeah, I'm kinda going on the prevailing list of fish that are more likely to pick and avoiding those without question. If one of the butterfly fish ends up trying to pick at the shark I'll either put it in my reef or find another home for it. I know a chance exists for this but it is much less likely than with angels, triggers or puffers. The Tusk is back on my radar and I'm doing some more reading on them. :)

Shawna, Yes the Semilarvatus is off the list now for a couple of reasons. I can understand G's stance on not wanting to remove fish from the Red Sea and even if that weren't the case it's body shape is too close to the Pakistan B-fly which is a must have and I don't want them fighting with each other. Agree though... definately a beauty.

Hi Mel Nice list.
I have the green wrasse( Halichoeris chioropterus);it's now about 4 inches in size, I added it when it was abut 1.5 inches.. It is a peaceful and hardy fish. It doesn't bother my other smaller wrasses in the 120. It is a beautiful lime green color and always gets a comment or two from folks viewing the tank.

Hiya Tom. They are beauts for sure... I saw one in a tank recently and that's what made me think of it. Such a great color. Is there a fish you would cut out of the list to put that one back in?

I just wanna see the shark ....hahaha

hahaha

Ahhh ok didnt see that :) Yeah first time Ive seen this b-fly. The pakistan is stunning as well! Great list of fish and beautiful splash of colors :)

No, I don't want to recommend you cut any since I have never kept the other fish on your list except for the harlequin(Choerodon fasciatus). I tried 2x several years ago but had no luck with the Indo species and lost them after several months . I've heard the Austrailian variety has better survival rates but have no first hand experience to share. You may be able to do better with one. Perhaps someone who has kept one long term can chime in.
I like the look of the male square spot anthias(pseudoanthias pleurotaenia) but I run bright tanks and have stayed away from this fish because it is reported to loose color in brightly lit aquariums. I don't think the females are very special as a matter of personal taste.

friend of mine just bought a pair of solder fish for his 180. really cool fish. they came up to my ugly face, and were in and out of the rock work the whole time i was there.

See that's my problem... all fish on the original list are just too cool to be cut and I'm having a hard time not adding to it. It may come to the point where I have to put the names in a hat and let fate take over. lol

Definately happy to hear of a second tank with sociable soldier fish. Would you consider your friend's tank to be dimly lit by any chance?

plently of light 3x250. his fish seem to split their time 70/30. 70 darker areas ,30 light. it's not like they hide all the time. they are very active. they were darting in and out of the rock work the whole time i was there.
