Having a hard time getting rid of cyano

I've gotten rid of all but just a lil bit on my live rock but 1/3 of my sand bed is covered in cyano . I siphon it out during water changes but it comes back

We need some more info. How long has the tank been up, how big is it, what are your current inhabitants, what are your water parameters, what lights do you run, what is your lighting schedule, and what kind of flow do you have in your tank? These will help us determine the problem you are having.

I am having a tough time siphoning it out. Thinking of using straight tube no attachment.

I am going lights out next 3 days and doing 25% water changes twice a week.

Unsure what my source is. Not happy with skimmer.

i've been fighting it for months, haven't been able to figure out why it is so prolific in my tank. hate using chemicals but i finally caved and used some ultralife red slime remover. it did the trick with one dose, so far. it's just been a few days so i'm not giving it a thumbs up till i see it gone for a while. it only took one dose. didn't have to turn my skimmer off and didn't have to remove the charcoal.

Lights out will give instant gratification and then in a day or so disappointment. If your system parameters all are on the up and up you may consider using chemiclean. I finally used it in combination with lights out after vacuuming out all the slime i could. Excellent product with no detriment to my sps nor the few lps i have. Good luck.

I would reduce feedings, up to 20-25% water changes a week, run GFO, and siphon the stuff out. Cut back lights an hour or so.
