Having Trouble with 9010

Hey Roger,

I'm having some trouble with my 9010 skimmer again. It is run in-sump with the stand pipe and solid bottom cover. After I clean the collection cup, it foams for about six hours (over night) and patially fills the collection cup with large bubbles. Then it just stops. No more bubbles, and the bubbles in the cup do not collapse. I have the blue screw completely removed, so I guess there must be something wrong with the air delivery system. Any ideas? I'm going to go give it a clean and see if anything changes.

Thanks for the help!

*Just took apart the skimmer. I noticed the nozzle assembly on output of Hydrofoamer comppletely disconnected from the impellar housing. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that it is not supposed to do that?

Any chance of a picture, the nozzle is too parts so it depends how it came off, there is a right way for it to come apart for cleaning.

Sorry, no picture at the moment.

Basically, the outer nozzle housing/casing (3130.160) AND the inner nozzle (the flared piece that is supposed to be permanently secured to the output) are stuck together and are capable of being detached from the impellar housing.

I superglued the whole nozzle assembly onto the output of the impellar housing and am already seeing some improvement in skimmate, though it is still not great. I have the screw completely removed but the skimmer has only accumulated ~25-50mL of skimmate in 24 hrs. I think the skimmer is supposed to basically flood if screw is removed.

Anyway, I'll see what the glue does, but I will probably just need to get a new impeller housing.

Your description is sufficient and in that case it would be broken. You need to get the joint sealed really well. It should be as good as new if properly glued, ideally the best glue would be a plastic cement like model cement or Tangit and it would just need to be evenly applied to eliminate any leaks to cause a loss of pressure.
