Having troubles with chevron

Bought a 6 inch adult chevron from divers den and he hasn't ate since Tuesday (the day I got him) that I've seen. He's in a 300g stock tank by himself with lots of macro algae and rocks to graze on. He has no visible signs of illness but he simply will not eat. I have tried algae sheets, nls pellets, and mysis soaked in selcon.

Side note: The styrofoam box he came in was busted in on the top.

Acclimation was floating him for about 45 min the salinity matched so didn't bother dripping him.

Any suggestions ?

What about adding another fish in there? Any chance if he saw him eating it would entice him to eat? I know that sounds dumb but I'm getting desperate

Give it some acans. Mine loves those!!!

Just kidding.

Just give it some time. It's probably not used to everything and it's new surroundings. Looks like it has enough fat on it to hold it over for a few days at week at least.

The Garlic Seaweed usually works for me on new Tangs. Very very strong garlic odor. Not sure if you tried that yet. Another thing you might want to try is live Brine Shrimp.

there is some of that in there right now. I will get the live brine shrimp asap my LFS gets 2 0z portions for $6.50

Good luck, I love Chevrons, was my first expensive fish when I first started out. I have 3 Juveniles now all born and raised together. Pretty cool watching them work together.

Of all the tangs I have, or have ever had, bristles are the least interested in nori. They're evolved to scrape film algae and detritus off the rocks. As long as it's at a healthy weight (not pitched behind the head) I'd not worry yet. My Chevie rarely eats nori, will take mysis (took a few weeks though), but spends all day scraping the rocks and rear glass.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really like the adult coloration on this fish. Even more than when a juvie. Mine is transitioning.

I agree with Simon, the only thing to add is feed spirulina brine and feed your tank live phyto which should add algae to your glass and lips marks from the chevron should follow. It is always better to get juveniles no matter what the fish because they adapt to our food and aquariums easier than adults. Keep us updated I am sure he will be fine.

He started eating today pretty viciously actually lol. Coming half way out of the water after some brine. Sigh of relief.
