HDPE 2?

Are they safe for use as sumps? I believe milk containers are made of this, so I assume its good but just want to make sure.

Thanks.

all HDPE is "HDPE 2". There is a list of 7 codes for recyclable plastic resins in use today, HDPE is #2 on that list.
So yes, HDPE is safe :)

I see. You may want to build a little frame to keep it from bowing out. Rather than baffles, you can use different sizes of nested containers. This way you get the same function without having to fight leaking baffles.

Thanks for the ideas. I never thought of the bowing and will build a frame. Great idea. As for baffles, its going to be connected to a 33G glass refugium with 1.5" bulkheads and PVC. Im not sure yet if I need baffles in the rubbermaid anyways because it is just primarily for the overflow drain and skimmer. But your idea for containers sounds good.
