I thought I would never be posting in this forum but here I am. My yellow Tang has head and lateral Erosion (HILLE). HILLE is a sydrome or clinical disease and is usually non-fatal. However, there is no promising cure to get rid of it, there are only methods. The primary cause has not really been discovered yet and I have no why idea my yellow tang has it. Usually tangs and angelfish are prone to it. I am guessing why my tang has it is because its a syndrome and getting it can't be helped if it runs in that individuals genetics which I think it runs in my tangs.

My water quality is pretty good with no nitrates, no ammonia nor nitrites. I have strong lighting and good flow and good filtration. And not to mention all my fishes dietary is great. I feed them a diverse amount of healty foods including seaweed sheets for my yellow tang to graze on.

I just want to know, how will I get rid of this? I have heard head erosion can cause permanent scaring and thats the last thing I want. I won't give up on my tang but I want to know its future? How do I correct its condition?

In your article which I appreciate a lot, I noticed there was a topic about activated carbon and how it could play a role with MHILLE. Well I just started using activated carbon about a week and a half ago and thats when the outbreak just began. Overall, my water quality is decent but not perfect, like you said, you can't measure everything and my tangs diet is pretty good. It has to be the carbon.
